“Open WebUI is being built so everyone can run AI for themselves. Not rent it. Not depend on it. Own it. Self-sufficient, adaptable, and ready for wherever humanity goes, from a laptop to the stars.”
One command. 60 seconds. No account required. Run it anywhere.

Open WebUI v0.11.1 adds tool-call approvals, an ask_user builtin that lets the model pause and ask you a question, a terminal file browser that previews documents in place and hands files back into the reply, /model in the slash commands, smarter chat search, a hover-preview switch, admin-set interface defaults, and delta streaming that cuts reply traffic by orders of magnitude.

What Open WebUI's plugin system actually is: Tools that give models new abilities, Functions that rewire the platform, a community library of both, and how to install or write your own safely.

The community newsletter returns with five hands-on-tested plugins across four picks covering live chart streaming, inline 3D model viewing, task planning, and tool-call approvals, plus a caching papercut with its community fix, fresh leaderboard data, and the short version of what's new in v0.11.1.
